Practical training course in gastro-intestinal and respiratory endoscopy (in English)

Présentation de la formation

The AFVAC organizes a practical training course in gastro-intestinal and respiratory endoscopy. The first module takes place over two days at the exceptional technical platform of the Nancy Surgical school. Thanks to qualified instructors (Juan Hernandez and Suzy Valentin), it is directed towards beginners in endoscopy as well as practitioners wishing to perfect pre-existing technical endoscopic skills. Simulations in all forms allow to teach and repeat movements and actions in a setting very close to reality, without any emotional stress, in order to acquire fundamental endoscopic automatisms.

Prérequis

Be a veterinarian who practices in a clinic owning an endoscope or that will acquire one soon.

Objectifs pédagogiques

Gastro-intestinal endoscopy

Be capable of :

• cite indications, contraindications, contributions and limitations of gastro-intestinal endoscopy ;
• know which equipment to use, and its technical characteristics ;
• know which maintenance is necessary ;
• know how to explore the gastro-intestinal tract of a monogastric mammal ;
• know how to recognize normal gastro-intestinal structures ;
• know how to perform per-endoscopic gastro-intestinal biopsies.

Respiratory endoscopy

Be capable of:

• cite indications, contraindications, contributions and limitations of respiratory endoscopy ;
• know which equipment to use, and its technical characteristics in order to adapt to the size of the animal ;
• know which maintenance is necessary ;
• know how to explore the pharynx, larynx, tracheal, bronchial and nasal cavities ;
• know how to recognize normal pharyngeal, laryngeal, tracheal, bronchial and nasal cavities ;
• know how to perform nasal biopsies and a broncho-alveolar lavage.

Informations pratiques

Practical initiation with endoscopic simulators, GECO cubes, gastro-intestinal and respiratory endoscopy of isolated organs and pre-clinical models.
